Writing Comparisions
As several others have written we are as individual as snowflakes. No two are alike, nor will two write alike. There are comparisions though and after reading my fellow classmates bloggs I find I relate to and differ from several.
I relate to Natasha and Armando when needing quite and solitude in which to think and process my words. But also like Brandon and Natasha who have both stated, as well as Ronnie, that we are all still learning new methods and processes in which to write.
Unlike some I am not nor have ever been a procrastinator and although it may seem that way to some of you, for I am quite behind, I assure you it is due to recent personal afflictions and not procrastination.
I find I do tend to make a rough draft and proceed from there. I don't normally make an outline,
however I do feel like it is something I am going to try in the future.
I am not a writer. I do not ever aspire to be a writer. My goal is and I do hope that I will be able to utilize the methods and procedures learned in this class to be able to express myself better in communication both verbal and written and will be better able to present more clarifying and precise papers in my future studies.
I do praise all of you on your images and icons, for that is a big problem for me.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
Vicki,
ReplyDeleteI applaud you on bravery to disclose personal aspects of your assignments. If I may interject on a respectful level towards this post. The rhetoric seems to be using pathos on disclosing why things are the way they are. My respectful point is that towards this course according to time sensitive material to be turned in you only have to answer to the instructor. I would hate to see your concern over what others think effect your writing or your writing style. In anyone's writing I would rather see thoughtful work that adds to the discussion or even my own style than some examples I am seeing in other courses. I have enjoyed reading your work when I have come across it. I would just offer to stay focused as to not allow it to effect your writing.
In regards to the images and icons to offer you an example of what I do to find them. I work on my title and then I read that title to see what first comes to mind. This will be different towards all peers on here. When I get the title I am looking for I then vision my overall thoughts on it. In the comparison of others work for me it was a survey of other students and the first thing that came to mind was survey says from Family Feud. Today's assignment was what I thought of as deep thoughts towards our perception of our next essay assignment therefore I chose deep thoughts by Jack handy. I tend to use that phrase if I am around people that are really thinking deep on an intellectual level. So work your title, and think about what the title means to your writing and then get a vision. Once you get that, use the power of the internet. Google....That is how I do it and I hope that offers assistance to you.

Thank you Ronnie.
DeleteI just want to say that, it is awesome how you are so honest! Writing has never been my best friend; it's just not something I enjoy. However, I do wish it was easier for me and I didn't dread it and like you I'm not going to give up; I plan to push forward You're doing a great job! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sarah
DeleteVicki, I greatly appreciated your writing, although this is the only blog that I read to comment on, it peaked my interest enough I got sidetracked reading more from you before I came back around to comment. I can agree about how although not being a procrastinator that it seems that way to others because of my overly hectic schedule. I have always been a person who thinks I can do one more thing no matter how many other one more things I have already added to my weekly schedule. I use the outline technique usually myself but primarily because that was the way I was taught and it seems more natural to me. You might be more comfortable using an umbrella technique similar to the one mentioned by Katie. The important thing is finding whatever technique works best for you. As respecting the images, I am more spur of the moment with this than I am with my writing. When I am covering my main points I will just google important words or phrases and click images in the results. If one strikes me as fitting I use it. I often get many more images than I use, but at least that way I think I find the most fitting images for my writing. Keep up the excellent work and I think you will be caught up in no time.
